Pakhal Lake that spreads over 30 Sq. KM is a man made lake located 50 KM from Warangal. Pakhal Lake was built by Kakatiya king, Ganapathidev, by connecting a small branch of the Krishna River. Around Pakhal Lake, the Pakhal Wildlife Sanctury spreads over an area of 900 sq.km. Pakhal sanctuary has Tiger, Leopard, Panther and Sambhar and a large number of migratory birds that you can see in winter season. The best time to visit Pakhal Lake is November to June. SittingĀ over a ‘Maachan’ and viewing the Pakhal Lake sanctuary is exciting. There is forest dept. guesthouse there. There is no arrangement of wildlife safari though.
You can go from Hyderabad by road (130 KM) or reach Warangal stn. by train. Then, there are direct buses available to reach Pakhal Lake but instead you can take a bus to Narsampet to which bus service is frequent.
