India >> Arunachal Pradesh >> Bomdila
The little hamlet of Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh is not your typical tourist hot spot with loads of places to see. Neither is it packed with historical monuments, buildings or religious tributes. Bomdila is a nature lover’s retreat. Bomdila is where you go when you are tired of the external world and want to get in touch with your inner self. The journey to Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh is a journey to the core of what is within you. The comparison is not just metaphorical. When you set out for this idyllic town, you will come across a wide spectrum of emotions, triggered by the scenic beauty of the way.
Located 8000 feet above the sea level, you can approach Bomdila from the Tezpur side. The ideal time for visiting Bomdila is between the months of April and October. If you are pushing your visit to the winter months, you have to arm yourself with enough woolens. The path to Bomdila meanders through the mountain sides and is an experience in itself. Bomdila is known to the offbeat tourists as the place that means snow-capped mountains, apple trees and Buddhist monasteries. Like Tipi, Bomdila has an orchid sanctuary, too.
The town of Bomdila is bathed in serenity. There’s a calm presence in the air that is typical of a Buddhist ambiance. The crack of dawn is welcomed with the prayers and chants of the Buddhist Gompas. Make sure you stay over for a night, in the least, to experience the beautiful dawn. There are few other places that can match up to Bomdila if it’s peace and tranquility that you are looking for. You can visit the Buddhist Monastery and spend some time in meditation and introspection. You can visit the orchids or the apple orchards as well. Bomdila is not where you do a lot of activity; it’s more of a place where you become one with Nature.
