India >> Goa >> Travel tips for Goa
When you decided to let your hair down, danger can sometimes lurk around the corner. Goa, though a safe haven for tourists, couples and family travelers, can be a little hunting ground for frauds, tricksters and unscrupulous people. You have to be on your guard at all times to ensure that you and your belongings are safe. Before we go into the details of how you can keep harm at bay, let’s take a look at what your packing must-haves are.
Goa has beaches to die for. You will need lots of swimwear. It’s preferable to have cotton clothes and swim trunks with you. Cotton is the fabric that has less or no chances of reacting with your skin. Goa, being a sea shore, has maritime climate. It is moderate throughout the year. However, if you are visiting Goa during winter, it is advisable to carry light woolen clothes and jackets. Carry plenty of sun block lotions and glares. The sunlight here is really bright and unless you are planning to get a tan, you must take protection against it.
Goa is the place where international tourists frequently visit. It is mandatory for every tourist in Goa to carry their identity proof having their name, address, emergency contact and blood group. If you are planning to drive, make sure you have a driver’s license. Also, carry ATM cards others than liquid cash. Traveler’s cheques are acceptable, too. If you are planning to convert dollars or pounds into Indian rupees, do it through legitimate sources.
When you are out buying, you can bargain with the shopkeepers. They generally charge much higher than the actual rate. Drink only mineral water at small restaurants and do not walk around in lonely, dark spots. Never walk on the beach bare feet. Lastly, do not trust anyone blindly. Always be vigilant about the things that you are carrying.
